Jim is an interesting character - he's only the 2nd person to be expelled from the House of Representatives since the Civil War. He was tried on several charges in federal court and found guilty with no physical evidence what-so-ever. But really, Jim was a great politician, and one of the most flamboyant. Known for his "One Minute Speeches" and his wardrobe, Jim represented the 9th district of Ohio from 1984-2002. He is currently serving a prison sentence at Ray Brook FCI in New York state.

I wrote to Jim recently at Ray Brook and got a response. I have blotted out parts of the letter, as it may be slightly offensive to some. ;-)

I truly believe Jim was set up and railroaded, and several Congressmen on the Hill do too. Mrs. Traficant asks EVERYONE to help Jim get a presidental pardon. His wife has asked me to pass this information along to everyone. Please write to the Speaker of the House, Congressman Dennis Hastert, as its his office that handles these affairs. The address is:
